Almaty Mayor Babel said at the press conference that the Sino-Kazakhstan joint venture, the Asian Steel Pipe Company (ASPC), plans to postpone the production date from December 2018 to the first half of 2019.
It is reported that the project is located in the Alatao Industrial Zone of Almaty City, covering an area of 183 hectares with a total investment of 100 million US dollars. It is designed to produce 100,000 tons of
large-diameter steel pipes (355 mm - 1400 mm) annually. It can be used in the fields of mining, construction, chemical industry and energy. The company plans to expand its production capacity to 150,000 tons in the future. The project started construction in April 2017 and will be able to achieve 70% import substitution of Harbin steel pipe products.
The share ratio of Asia Steel Pipe Co., Ltd. is composed of: China Central Asia Rees Steel Pipe (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. (China Petroleum Subsidiary) accounting for 50%; Doster Drilling and Pipeline Service Holding Company of Kazakhstan National Oil and Gas Company ( Service Pipes Holding) each accounted for 25%.
