42CrMo4 alloy steel pipe has high strength and hardenability, good toughness, small deformation during quenching, high creep strength and endurance strength at high temperature. 42CrMo4 alloy steel pipe is used to manufacture forgings with higher strength and larger quenching and tempering section than 35CrMo steel, such as large gear for locomotive traction, booster drive gear, pressure vessel gear, rear axle, connecting rod and spring clamp with great load, drill rod joint and fishing tool for oil deep well below 2000m, and die for bending machine, etc.
Production process of 42CrMo4 alloy steel pipe:
1. Hot rolling 42CrMo4 alloy steel pipe (extrusion of seamless steel tube): round tube blank → heating → piercing → three roll cross rolling, continuous rolling or extrusion → pipe stripping → sizing (or reducing) → cooling → straightening → hydrostatic test (or flaw detection) → marking → warehousing.
2. Cold drawing 42CrMo4 alloy steel pipe (rolling) : round tube blank → heating → piercing → heading → annealing → pickling → oiling (copper plating) → multi pass cold drawing (cold rolling) → blank tube → heat treatment → straightening → hydrostatic test (flaw detection) → marking → warehousing.
