ASME SA179 seamless steel pipe standard specification covers seamless cold drawn low carbon steel pipe for tubular heat exchanger, condenser and other similar heat transfer equipment. The outside diameter of ASME SA179 seamless steel pipe is 1 / 8 "to 3", i.e. 3.2mm to 76.2mm.
Other diameters and thicknesses less than the specified dimensions are also applicable to this standard, but ASME SA179 seamless steel pipe thicknesses less than 1 / 8 inch and 3.2 mm or less than 0.015 inch and 0.4 mm are not applicable to mechanical properties.
Manufacturing: ASME SA179 seamless steel pipe adopts seamless process and cold drawing.
Heat treatment: ASME SA179 seamless steel pipe shall be heat treated at 1200 °F [650 °C] or higher after final cold drawing passes.
Delivery conditions: pickling, nitrogen protected surface or bright annealing. Some countries only conduct bright annealing heat treatment in their own countries, because pickling is necessary, but many countries do not allow ASME SA179 seamless steel pipe with this process. At present, nitrogen protection has been widely used in China. The surface is similar to bright appearance, but the cost is low.
